There are so many reasons why people choose to visit Ibiza and why they fall in love with this beautiful island, and end up coming back time and time again. Here are just some of the things you can do here
There is no shortage of incredible beaches lining our coastline. . Whether you want to laze in one of the best beach clubs in the world and not move from your luxury lounger, want to channel your inner hippy or you prefer some peace and quiet, there is something for everyone.
Ibiza is home to some of the biggest and best known clubs and club nights in the world. Pacha was born here over 60 years ago and was joined by Amnesia soon after. Whether Ushuaia, Privilege or Hi are more your thing, Ibiza still offer the best nightlife of any holiday destination.
The island´s gastronomy
Every year sees a new spot opening up and whether you prefer a traditional fish restaurant on the beach, or want to blow the budget in a fancy eatery in Ibiza town there is a cuisine and price point to suit everyone. There is also a growing farm to table movement on the island, offering delicious food in charming settings.
Little sister to Ibiza and located 30 minutes away by fast ferry (or hire a boat for the day and do it in style), this is a must visit. The water and beaches are simply out of this world and a longer stay on the island reveals sleepy villages, beautiful garden restaurants (we love Can Carlos) and an island that still in parts (especially out of season) feels like you have stepped back in time.
The breathtaking susnets
Mention Ibiza and one of those iconic sunsets will crop up in conversation soon after. There really is nothing like enjoying a cocktail, some blissed out Balearic vibes and watching the sun drop into the ocean. Hostal la Torre and ECC beach are our favourite sunset spots.
Exploring historical Ibiza Town
Declared a UNESCO world heritage site, wandering around the streets of Dalt Vila (Old Town) in Ibiza has to one of the highlights to any visit to Ibiza. Home to an old port and historic city ramparts, you can while away several hours early evening perusing the gorgeous boutiques and little drinking spots before enjoying dinner in one of the many restaurants in and around the port and the town. We love Es Calineta for a cocktail followed by dinner at El Portalon or Bar 1805.
Find inner peace at a yoga or meditation retreat
Ibiza is synonymous with yoga and alternative healing practices- there is a wide choice of retreats located at the top of the mountains in pine scented forests (Ibiza Retreats and My island retreats are 2 of the best) and the island is home to some world class alternative therapists (many of whom we have on speed dial!).
Ibiza is home to the best beach clubs in the world
Fact! Having travelling extensively we have never found anywhere that has quite encapsulated that super cool, effortless, laid back vibe that many of the beach clubs here have- and being located on some beautiful stretches of sand certainly helps. Beachouse, Yemanja, Cala Bassa Beach Club and El Chiringuito are some of our favourites.
Beautiful scenery and countryside
The island offers some beautiful countryside and coastal hikes (Toby and his team from Walking Ibiza know the island like the back of their hands), and exploration of the interior of the island is highly recommended be it by foot or 4WD. The haunting rock formation of Es Vedra (see images above) is also definitely worth seeking out and the sunsets from here and beautiful.
The chilled out hippy vibe
The original hippies landed on the island some time ago, but the island continues to attract a mix of artists, travellers, beatniks and bohemians. There are various “hippy markets” on the island with Las Dalias in San Carlos being one of the best offerings.
From shopping Mecca Sluiz in Santa Gertrudis, to local craftsmanship in the leather shops dotted around the island there are lots of interiors, clothing and jewellery shops to choose from. Whether you prefer high end boho chic or rummaging for a bargain in a flea market, or maybe a high end boutique is more your thing, Ibiza is a great place to shop.
“Imagine that St Barth´s and Tulum had a love child, a beautiful free spirited daughter with a gentle hippy soul and a taste for the good life, and you’d be getting close to the real Ibiza”
